My day In Waco TX
It is always fun to spend a week driving around Texas. While traveling between Dallas and Texas, I decided to stop in and explore Waco. It may be known for its endless surrounding plains, but this city is much more than a mere way stop.
I pulled into town early and made my way to the Waco chamber of commerce. Often times, the local chamber can provide information about an unfamiliar city and this was no exception. There, I found out about Cameron Park.
As Cameron Park was about a mile outside of Waco and the weather was nice, I decided to walk there. The park is surprisingly lush and very large. It quickly became apparent that one could easily spend a day and not see it all. I decided to be a little conservative and kept myself to one of its many hiking trails. Although steep in places, it offered several commanding views of the Brazos River below.
As if this was not enough, there is also a zoo attached to the park. The Cameron Park Zoo has fifty acres of flora, fauna, and animals. There were many animals here, including black bears, jaguars, and giraffes. Many different natural habitats were replicated and it made for a fun visit. Next time I visit Waco, I will bring hiking boots!
